--- Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge Aug 2009 ---

The trail begins 1.5 miles beyond the visitor center.


Looking over the top of the ridge to the north, to the "wet" side of the ridge. These berry bushes were quite a contrast from the south side.


Looking back down the ridge from the top, one can see the trail.


Looking north from a spot just east of the end of the trail, offers a view of Port Angeles and Ediz Hook in the distance. Victoria would be visible except for the haze. All the silvery dead trees on the hillside were from a fire in 2004.

This meadow area near the top often has snow until July.


This chicken sized Ptarmigan hen was trying to round up her chicks. Being fascinated with the hikers, they had managed to get ten feet or so on either side of her.
